Great White Shark Diving: Itinerary

Great White Shark trips are scheduled September through November. Although there have been random sightings observed throughout the year, Great White Sharks congregate at Guadalupe Island in the fall months yielding an unusually large concentration of animals. Our great white shark sighting record of 100% success speaks for itself. We have also had the astounding opportunity to witness up to seven (yes, seven!) great whites around the Islander at one time. Remember, these are solitary creatures who do not travel together… so the opportunity to witness this event is astounding!

Overview:

Typical Trip Schedule:
Day 1: Depart San Diego by chartered motor coach to Ensenada, Mexico. Board M/V Islander 9am, At sea
Day 2: 7am arrival Guadalupe Island/Full day of shark cage diving
Day 3: Full day shark cage diving
Day 4: Full day of shark cage diving, depart 6pm
Day 5: At sea/Arrival in Ensenada, Mexico returning to San Diego by chartered motor coach between 4-5pm

Daily Cage Dive Rotations/Schedule:
 

Floating shark cage #1: Four divers, hourly rotations
 

Floating shark cage #2: Four divers, hourly rotations
 

Submersible shark cage: One diver plus Divemaster 30 min. rotations

Daily Meal Schedule:
Each and every four-star meal is made from scratch and prepared by our professional chef. Long days of cage diving with Great White Sharks produce hearty appetites and Islander’s Galley staff are always up to the task of satiating every palate!

7:00am Breakfast
9:30am: Fresh baked Mid-morning snack
12-1pm: Lunch
4:00pm: Hors D’oeuvres
7:00pm: Dinner
Additionally, snacks including fresh fruit, chips and nuts available throughout the day

Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1 - Departure/Travel Day

• 6am: Your Great White Shark adventure begins in San Diego by boarding a chartered motor coach at the Holiday Inn Bayside located at 4875 North Harbor Drive San Diego, Ca. 92106. After a short stop at the US/Mexico border, we     continue down the scenic coastal toll road for approximately 2 hours to the port of Ensenada.
• 8am: Upon arrival, guests will board Islander and luggage will be stowed in below deck staterooms. Breakfast will be served in the onboard galley.
• 9-10 am: Islander departs Ensenada bound for Guadalupe Island. Atthis time, a comprehensive safety seminar and brief overviewof the trip are given in the galley by the Captain and Divemaster.
• 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Following lunch we will havean in-depth seminar on Great White Shark Cage diving procedures, safety in the water and what to expect during our stay at Guadalupe Island. The remainder of the day is spent socializing with other guests and crew as well as learning fascinating facts and details about Great White Sharks.
• 3-4 pm: Hors d'oevres are served.
• 6 pm: Dinner is served in the galley.

DAY 2 - Full Day of Diving

• 7 am: Hot and cold breakfast is served in the galley.
• 8 am: Islander arrives at Guadalupe Island. At this time conditions are assessed and the best location is chosen for our dive operations to begin. Our White Shark Cages are deployed and dive rotations begin. Provided Great White Sharks are present, the remainder of the day is spent viewing them from both above and below the water. In the rare event White Sharks are not present at our particular location, it may be necessary to move to an alternate dive site.
• 9-10 am: Mid-morning snack is served
• 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Shark Dive rotations continue.
• 3-4 pm: Hors d'oeuvres are served.
• 7pm: Dinner is served in the galley. After an incredible day of diving, beer and wine flow freely while guests view each others photos from the day.

DAY 3 - Full Day of Diving

• 7am: Shark diving operations will resume and continue until dark.
• 7 am: Breakfast is served in the galley.
• 9-10 am: Midmorning snack is served
• 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Shark Dive rotations continue.
• 3-4 pm: Hors d'oeuvres are served.
• 7 pm: Dinner is served in the galley.

DAY 4 - Full Day of Diving

• 6 am: Shark diving operations resume
• 7 am: Breakfast is served in the galley.
• 9-10 am: Midmorning snack is served
• 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Shark Dive rotations continue.
• 3-4 pm: Hors d'oeuvres are served.
• 6 pm: Dinner is served in the galley.
• Sundown: Islander departs Guadalupe Island

DAY 5 - Travel Day/Arrival

Shark divers will wake up to enticing Belgian Waffles and a movie marathon in the salon. The last day of travel is also the ideal time to reflect on your experience at Guadalupe Island by sharing Great White Shark photos and relax before our arrival in Ensenada, Mexico.

• 8 am: Breakfast is served in the galley.
• 9-10 am: Midmorning snack is served.
• 1 pm: Lunch is served in the galley.
• 2pm: Arrival in Ensenada, board chartered motor coach/depart for San Diego.
• 4-5 pm: Arrival in San Diego.
